In the course of my career, I have done a lot of traveling. Jumping on an airplane and landing in a strange city is a little intimidating. I learned that car rental locations are different in every city and often require the traveler to explore dimly lit underground garages, cross busy airport arrival / departure lanes, or jump on a crowded shuttle with standing room only. That’s only the beginning! When your rental is finally secured, you have to adjust the seat and mirrors, find the windshield wiper switch, and figure out where you’re going.
Before the arrival of smart phones, car rental agencies handed out small paper maps of the area to help you locate your hotel or business office. It was definitely hard to read those maps while driving down the road. Becoming lost was nearly a way of life! I often stopped at the nearest office supply store to purchase a Thomas Guide, those spiral-bound atlases that featured detailed street maps of most metropolitan areas in the United States. Eventually, I was able to decipher the map and locate my destination.
I love the GPS (global positioning system) on my phone. I simply enter the address, press “start”, and I’m ready to roll. Unfortunately, I occasionally get distracted and still manage to get lost. A few days ago, I was talking with a friend on my “hands free” phone while driving and trying to pay attention to my GPS. Somehow I missed a turn. Instead of traveling a peaceful backroad, I ended up in a nasty traffic jam on the freeway. I had to “recalculate” my route and eventually made it safely to my destination, a little worn and a little late.
I realize I get a distracted in my spiritual life too. I have a plan, but I still get off course because I’m not paying attention. I need a holy GPS (God’s Positioning System) to help me focus on the right way and listen to the prompting of the Holy Spirit. The Bible is clear about the road to take and who to follow.
I run in the path of your commands, for you have broadened my understanding. Teach me, Lord, the way of your decrees, that I may follow it to the end. Give me understanding, so that I may keep your law and obey it with all my heart (Psalm 119:32-34).
I know my final destination, and with God’s help, I will follow the path He has shown me.

Love this, D!!!!
Staying in sync/abiding in Him is the only way to go!!! He is worthy of our total trust💕🤗

Something devastating happened to me 12 years ago. I did not know why the Lord allowed it to happen. I seriously considered walking away from the Lord and not returning. It has taken years to come to a partial understanding. There are times, even now when I have trouble trusting the Lord again. However, like the disciples when asked by Jesus, “Will you leave me also?” I have nowhere or no one else to follow. So, I walk on not understanding. I doubt that understanding will come this side of Heaven, and by the time I get there, it won’t matter anyway. Thank you for Ps. 119: 32-34. My heart is there even when I don’t understand.
