The past few months have been rough. People I love are battling illness and at least half a dozen friends / classmates from my small-town high school have passed recently. Just when my heart begins to recover from one loss, it’s hit with another. However, in the midst of the pain there is hope, the hope I have in Jesus.
In a tribute to her husband, the wife of my late friend and classmate Bob wrote a beautiful eulogy about Bob’s love of his family and his passion for golf. She followed those thoughts with a simple phrase, “Bob was a man of faith.” She didn’t elaborate on the church positions he held or his accomplishments within the church, she simply informed us of his faith.
Ultimately, faith in Jesus is all that matters. In the scope of eternity the boards we serve on, the groups we lead, or how important we think we are fades away. All that really matters is our faith.
And so, I walk forward with hope knowing my faith in God will sustain me through the losses and pain I feel. He will heal the wounds of my heart.
He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds.
Psalm 147:3 (NLT)

I’m sorry your heart is hurting. I know what it is like to lose friends from long ago, unfortunately neither knew the Lord. That makes it doubly hard. I miss them and wish I had another opportunity to share Christ’s love and sacrifice.

We have felt this sadness of late, too! All the more reason we love simple get togethers where anyone on everyone is welcome!!! So glad we had time for catch up recently!!!
