From the Rising of the Sun

There is something special about watching the sunrise in the quiet of an early morning. The day seems filled with hope and promise. I hear the doves cooing from their perch nearby and the smells of a hearty breakfast tickle my nose with the fragrance of bacon, eggs, and toast. Energy pours into my body as I prepare for the new day. What a blessing!

Each time I view the miracle of a sunrise, my thoughts are drawn to the goodness of a God who paints such a perfect beginning to the day. Praise rises up within me to the Creator who gifts me with such beauty.

Like you, my days are filled with errands, appointments, deadlines, and a myriad of other tasks. By day’s end, fatigue seeps into my bones; I crave rest and refreshment. I look toward the west and see the sun begin to dip into the horizon. The day is over and God was faithful to provide what I needed.

My heart turns to praise as I watch the sun disappear and give way to the shadows of night. Sunset signals the time for rejuvenating sleep so I can look forward to whatever tomorrow may bring. God has put bookends on my day with His magnificent display of grandeur.

The sun provides the beginning and ending to each day in a way that reflects Jesus as the Alpha and Omega; the beginning and the end. Each day demands my praise of the Lord – all day, every day; from sunrise to sunset.

Praise ye the Lord. Praise, O ye servants of the Lord, praise the name of the Lord. Blessed be the name of the Lord from this time forth and for evermore. From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the Lord’s name is to be praised (Psalm 113:1-3).
